From the recording Chaplet of Divine Mercy in Honor of Saint John Paul II, Pope
Catholic composer / vocalist Michael Zabrocki announces the release of The Chaplet of Divine Mercy, a prayerful new recording dedicated to Saint John Paul II, Pope, whose life and pontificate were deeply marked by devotion to Divine Mercy. Release date is set for Corpus Christi Sunday, June 7, 2026.
The track, which runs over 18 minutes, features all prayers spoken by Michael Zabrocki, with the sung chant in new setting composed and performed by Michael. The melody is inspired by the ancient beauty of the Salve Regina chant, offering a reverent, simple, and easily sung setting intended to be welcomed by all those devoted to the Divine Mercy devotion.
Michael dedicates this recording to Saint John Paul II, Pope who once said, “The message of Divine Mercy has always been near and dear to me… in a sense [it] forms the image of this pontificate.” He also prayed unceasingly that God would “have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
The devotion to Divine Mercy held a special place in the life of Saint John Paul II. As Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, he began an informative process in 1965 to examine the life and virtues of Sister Faustina Kowalska. These efforts helped lead to the inauguration of her beatification cause in 1968. Through his support and perseverance, the ban on the Divine Mercy devotion was completely lifted by Pope Paul VI in 1978. Six months later, Cardinal Wojtyła was elected Pope John Paul II.
In Dives in Misericordiae, St. John Paul II defined mercy as “love’s second name.” It was John Paul II who beatified Sr. Faustina on April 18, 1993. Seven years later, John Paul II canonized Sr. Faustina on April 30, 2000, making her the first saint canonized in the Great Jubilee Year and the third millennium.
In John Paul II’s homily for Faustina’s canonization Mass, he announced that the Second Sunday of Easter would now be celebrated as Divine Mercy Sunday throughout the universal Church. Thanks to John Paul II, we have the “Feast of Mercy,” the same feast day the Lord requested in His revelations to St. Faustina (see Diary, 280 and 300).
With this new release, Michael Zabrocki hopes to offer the faithful a beautiful and prayerful way to enter more deeply into the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, honoring both the message of mercy given through Saint Faustina and the beloved pope who helped bring that message to the world.
